• Location data: approximate location, only when you explicitly grant permission for location-based notification timing.
• Usage data: anonymous analytics events such as screens viewed and features used, collected via PostHog.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To match your pantry ingredients to recipes and provide personalised recipe suggestions.
• To send push notifications (e.g. expiring ingredient reminders, shopping list reminders) when enabled.
• To improve the app through anonymous usage analytics.
• To manage your account and respond to support requests.

We use the following third-party services:

• Expo Push Notifications: to deliver push notifications to your device.
• PostHog: for anonymous product analytics to help us improve the app.
• Amazon Web Services (AWS): to host our backend infrastructure securely.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. When your account is deleted, all personal data — including pantry items, recipes, favourites, and notification preferences — is permanently removed from our systems.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), encrypted passwords, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS.

Gherkin is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.
